EMAXX Telecom the First to Provide 10GbE Carrier Ethernet Solution in Country; Leverages BTI's Multiservice Platform to Rapidly Deploy Fixed and Mobile Services to Consumers and Businesses
OTTAWA and BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - July 10, 2012) - BTI Systems, the global leader redefining service delivery for metro network operators, today announced that emerging Cambodian telecommunications provider, EMAXX Telecom, has chosen BTI Systems' scalable, low-latency, carrier-grade integrated Packet Optical platform to deliver a comprehensive range of Ethernet services. EMAXX will be the first provider in Cambodia to offer 4G/WiMAX services, mobile backhaul services, IPLC/DPLC connections and Ethernet Business Line services, over a high-capacity 10G metro Ethernet ring.
EMAXX will initially roll out its services in the capital of Phnom Penh (the largest city in Cambodia). Cambodia has become a very competitive market, especially in data and mobile services. By early 2011 there were nine mobile operators, assumed to be delivering services to an estimated 13 million mobile subscribers by 2012. Mobile broadband is driving Internet content and services demand throughout the country.
"Our mission is to provide a national, high-quality, 4G communications network service for Internet and multimedia applications, including commerce, entertainment and education for the development of Cambodia," said Sean Ngu, CEO of EMAXX Telecom. "We required a single, unified platform to support our entire services offering and meet our transport requirements for mobile backhaul and high-performance Ethernet Business Line services. With BTI, we chose solutions that are cost effective, scalable, reliable, provide low latency, and are MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) certified, enabling us to compete aggressively."
EMAXX has deployed the BTI 7000 Series, a compact, modular and easy-to-use packet optical networking system that provides a true pay-as-you-grow approach and makes it easy to capitalize on new service opportunities while leveraging a single, integrated solution. Additionally, EMAXX is leveraging the BTI 700 Series, an MEF-certified solution that enables a complete range of Ethernet services, including E-LINE and E-LAN. Support for all relevant Ethernet networking and OAM standards ensures high reliability, scalability and service visibility for dedicated Internet access. Services configuration is achieved through the proNX Service Management Suite, a modular and highly scalable service management system that integrates seamlessly into any operating environment, and provides easy and rapid provisioning and management.
"Cambodia is a fast-growing and developing market with surging demand by consumers and businesses for mobile access to content such as video and other OTT services, as well as Ethernet Business services," said Marc Olivier, Vice President of Business Development, Asia Pacific at BTI Systems. "EMAXX is Cambodia's first 10G metroE and they plan to expand rapidly beyond Phnom Penh to country-wide deployment. We look forward to working with them as they successfully add new subscribers and businesses and increase revenues."
