Extending traditional design support into a low cost supply chain simplifies the integration of ShadowSense(TM) touchscreen technology into openframe monitors. Baanto(TM) and D4E have partnered to make ELO compatible metal chassis' available direct from D4E's PingHu, China factory.
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - October 17, 2012) - Baanto International Ltd. ("Baanto™" or the "Company") a leading independent manufacturer of touchscreen technologies and D4E Inc., a leader in mechanical design and fabrication today announced an agreement between the two companies to develop and manufacture a full range of sheet metal chassis products designed to be mechanically compatible to the ELO openframe monitor products.
The family will launch with four (4) models with the sizes and aspect ratios matched to market requirements. These include a 15" 4:3 A/R, a 17" 5:4 A/R, a 19" 5:4 A/R, and a 21.5" A/R. All of the products are designed to interface with the corresponding Baanto touchscreen, yet support multiple TFT panels, providing customers with vendor, cost, and performance flexibility. The mechanical dimensions and mounting conventions are designed to be compatible with the corresponding ELO openframe monitors of the same size, including the 1537L, 1739L, and 1939L.
"The mechanical chassis is a critical component to all openframe monitors. The chassis supports and protects the TFT display, the display electronics, the power supplies, and interfaces for the video input, USB connection, and power," stated Av Utukuri, Baanto CTO. "The design has to be flexible in nature to support TFT displays from multiple vendors, yet mechanically precise to ensure correct mounting and support of the touchscreen frame, the TFT, and supporting electronics. On top of these requirements, D4E designed the outline and mounting to ensure the openframe would be drop in compatible with the ELO equivalent."
"The sheet metal chassis are being manufactured in our ISO/TS 16949 approved factory in Pinghu, China. Constructed of 20 gauge CRS electrogalvinized sheet metal, the designs are intended to meet the mechanical and durability requirements of embedded applications, yet be very cost effective," stated Shawn Zhou, Principle of D4E. "The ISO/TS 16949 standard is a rigorous quality and process control standard for the automotive industry. Conforming to these standards ensures our chassis customers of the highest quality products available."
Joe Kotas, Baanto CEO, noted: "We see significant interest from customers that would like to take advantage of the ShadowSense technology, multi-touch performance, and pricing, however their supply chain is faced with the challenge of designing and tooling the sheet metal chassis from scratch, a painstaking and costly task. Partnering with D4E allows Baanto customers and their current display integrators to take advantage of their existing supply chain for displays and electronics, yet procure verified and tooled chassis subassemblies directly from D4E at volume pricing."
Samples of the 17" and 19" chassis are available now. See www.baanto.com or www.d4e.com for more information and updates.
